Rockwell
So this is Rockwell Perry Myers. He was born September 28 at 6:30 pm. 6.1 lbs and 18 1/2 inches long. Totally perfect and sweet. I'm almost certain he will look much like his father which makes him the second handsomest man on the planet.
He had kinda a rough start coming into the world. Labor and delivery was great it was about 6 hours long and go me I did it all natural. But for some reason Rockwell had to be in the tiny percentage of term babies that don't develop surfactant in their lungs on time. Surfactant is the lubricant that keeps them from sticking together when we exhale. I was lucky enough to hold him for about thirty seconds while they cut the cord etc. then they took him away to wash him and thats when they discovered he wasn't breathing well and he was off to the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit). Which ended up being his home for the first 8 days of his life and the longest most emotionally straining of mine.

Finally home and meeting his sisters for the first time.
This is the CPAP (continuous positive air pressure) thing. When they figured the surfactant thing was the problem this is what he had to wear for a day, they explained that is was like driving down the road with your head out the window it just keeps air flowing into the lungs so they never colapse and in his case stick together.
Finally off the CPAP and just a regular nasal canula that did the same thing just not as intensive as the CPAP and made it wasy easier to hold him and see him.
Just chillin with mom and dad. He loved being held and his stats would be great when we were holding him.
Getting to know daddy, you can see how painfully bad we needed sleep.
Just hanging out and getting precious skin to skin time.
About day 4 his bilirubin was high (but what to you expect being in a dark room 24/7 so he was under the bili-lights for jaundice, it was so funny he looked like he was at the tanning salon with his eye protection and everything.
Just so you get an idea of what I had to stare at for 8 days, I'm amazed I'm still sane. I can't imagine how hard it would be for those who have had their babies in the NICU for weeks.
I'm so grateful that he is here and well. We are all learning how to work together. Eyla can't get enough of him and wants to hold him every chance she can. Raya is still trying to figure him out. It was really hard for them for me to be gone so much for 8 days and even harder for me to have to leave them. We are still trying to make up mommy time now that I am back and work little Rockwell into our daily routine. But it's way easier than I expected it would be.

Raya and the Potty
Curlers
After baths on Saturday night we had some extra time before bed so we did curlers. They both loved getting them in and thought they looked so pretty with curlers in their hair. However, Eyla couldn't peel her eyes off 101 Dalmations long enough for a picture. When I was putting them to bed Raya couldn't sleep because they were hurting her but she wouldn't let me take them out, such a girl, the sacrifices we make for beauty. Finally she was so tired she didn't fight me anymore and I took them out so she could sleep comfortably. That is why her hair didn't turn out curly just big and fluffy, but it was so dang cute anyway.

Typical Eyla cheese smile and Raya's sass face when their daddy asks them smile for the camera

This one will be surprise as well and we can't wait till it's here to see if it's a boy or girl. Eyla will tell you it's a girl but secretly me and Perry and hoping for a little boy this time. Either way we couldn't be more excited.

Perry's Birthday

Yesterday was Perry's 26th birthday! He isn't as excited about having pictures taken on his birthday as he is about taking pictures on the girls birthdays but I snapped this one as they were helping him blow out his candle. He only got 1 candle although he turned 26 instead I made him 26 funfetti cupcakes. However, by time the week is over I'm sure he will have eaten about 6 and me and the girls the other 20. Yummy. The girls couldn't wait to give him his presents. I tried to be a super good wify all day, I'm always a good wify ;) but for his birthday I was super good. He got like 3 massages and I made him a list of 26 things I loved about him, to bad he is only 26 it would have been easier if he were turning 100. We had a delicious steak dinner that he barbequed, that alone probably made his whole day. I love him and am so glad he has kept me around for 4 of his birthdays so far and can't wait to share many more with him.

Raya's Birthday
Yesterday was Raya's 1st birthday. I can't believe she is 1 already. She is my little angel and I couldn't be luckier to get to see her every day. She comes and gets me out of bed every morning just so happy to see me, how can a day not be wonderful after waking up to that smile.

As soon as she woke me up I told her happy birthday and got her crown so she could be the Birthday Queen but she wouldn't keep it on.

So we took the girls to a splash pad in the morning and tried to make the day super fun for "Raya's Birthday" but I don't think she saw it any different from any other day until cake time. The cake definitely made the day special for her. (By the way it was free from Albertsons, a friend from my ward tipped me off that they give you a free cake for your baby's 1st birthday). Anyway, Eyla didn't even touch her cake on her 1st birthday, but Raya, well............you'll see.

Eyla's Birthday
Yesterday was Eyla's second birthday. First thing in the morning I gave her a Birthday Queen crown which she wore with pride. Then we went to the park so she could "slide slide" (she says almost all her words in doubles). After lunch and a nap she was ready to go again. We played the afternoon away like usual, reading, sidewalk chalk, watering the plants, and when we had down time she was so good and justed looked at her presents but didn't touch. Finally after a gourmet dinner of her favorite foods mac and cheese, hot dogs, and jello, we did the birthday stuff.

Her new bike, I know it seems big for her to have a 2 wheeler but she is actually pretty good at it. Whenever we went to the store to have her try out a tricycle she would have nothing to do with it and would walk over to the bikes instead, so it may take a little more work and time but she loves it and she'll be riding like crazy before we know it.

This is my favorite picture from her birthday because it shows exactly what kind of big sister she is. After she blew out her candles and tasted a big finger full of frosting she shared some with Raya. I loved it.

She absolutely loves her tea-party set and set a place at her little table for all four of us (me and Perry are just a little to big to sit at that table) but she showed Raya exactly where to sit and they just played like that all night.

This is with all her loot. What you don't see she jammed in the little backpack she is wearing.
First thing when she got up this morning she was cooking and pretending it is so cute. When we got ready for the day after I did her hair she applied her make-up, thanks Aunt Cindy, The cute thing is I didn't even have to remind her about it, she just went and got it and wanted to put in on to complete her getting ready. She has spent tons of time out on her bike, Perry is so cute trying to teach her how to make her legs go around.
Can't wait till next week.....
